Launch Driver and Boat Khalasi Recruitment in Odisha 2025: Office of the Collector and District Magistrate of several districts of Odisha have started releasing notification for the engagement of Launch Driver and Boat Khalasi.

Over a period of time the others districts are expected to issue the recruitment notification for Launch Driver and Boat Khalasi. The applications from eligible candidates are invited for filling up the post of Launch Driver and Boat Khalasi on temporary basis. The interested candidates are suggested to go through the following provisions of vacancy before applying the positions.

Provisions of vacancy for Launch Driver and Boat Khalasi Recruitment in Odisha 2025

Candidates must have a minimum 2nd class Launch Driving certificate from an authorized authority in order to be considered for the position of Temporary Launch Diver.
Candidates for both positions must be able to swim 200 meters in 20 minutes in a river, canal, or other body of flowing water. To guarantee safety precautions during such testing, the assistance of a local fire officer or assistant fire officer shall be sought.
For the temporary position of Boat Khalasi, new applicants (without any prior work experience) must have a Crew Training completion certificate from the Crew Training Institute, and for the position of Launch driver, they must have a 2nd class Launch driving certificate from the Director of Ports & Inland Water Transport, Odisha.
Priority will be given to those who have worked for SPEO in the same position that they are applying for.
Before joining, chosen candidates must present a certificate of fitness from a government-employed physician that includes their name, registration number, and seal.
In order to improve service and maintenance for the power boats, particularly those that are in water bodies all year round, the location of posting of selected applicants will be decided after consulting with SPEO.
With the assistance of the State Port Engineer, AEE (Mechanical), and Junior Engineer (Mechanical) of SPEO, the district administration will administer the technical test for the Launch Driver position. Only those candidates who pass this test and meet additional requirements, such as having good behavior and conduct, will be hired.
Only functioning boats will be assigned temporary boat crew, with one launch driver and one khalasi per boat, taking into account the regular boat crew (if any) that is available for that particular vessel.
The engagement is just temporary, lasting from the engagement date to November 30, 2025. In addition to receiving monthly consolidated compensation, incumbents in these positions are not eligible for any other benefits, including TA, DA, or conveyance.
After the disengagement period, which ends on or after November 30, 2025, the candidates in this situation are not eligible to claim additional engagement or financial benefits or help.

The District Level Selection Committee, which was established for this purpose, will make the final decision about the selection of a qualified applicant for the temporary position of Launch Driver/Khali.
