IIT BHU Recruitment 2026: Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi invites online applications through SAMARTH Portal from the Indian Citizen for various posts under Administrative/ Technical/ Library/IWD/Rajbhasha cadre in the Institute.

Eligibility Criteria (पात्रता मानदंड)

The essential and desirable qualifications and experience for the above posts are listed below:

1. Junior Superintendent (Post Code: 26118)
   • Total Vacancies: 21 (UR-10; OBC-5; SC-3; ST-1; EWS-2)
   • Essential:
     • (i) Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from recognized university with at least 55% marks, 3 years of relevant experience in Level 5* or equivalent level or 8 years of relevant experience in Level 3* or above in Central Govt. / State Govt. Central & State Autonomous Bodies / Public Sector Undertakings / Central & State Research Organizations.
     • (ii) Proficiency in the use of variety of computer office applications, like M.S. Word, Excel, Power-point or equivalent is a must.
   • Desirable: Higher Degree / PG Diploma in relevant discipline like H.R, Labour Laws, Financial Management, inter ICWA/ CA etc. from recognized University/ Institute.
2. Junior Technician (Group-I) (Post Code: 26119)
   • Total Vacancies: 04 (UR-2; ST-1; EWS-1)
   • Branch: Chemistry; Physics
   • Essential:
     • Bachelor’s Degree in Science (with Chemistry / Physics as one of the Subject) with a minimum of 55% marks in the qualifying degree from a recognized University/Institute.
     • Proficiency in the use of a variety of computer office applications like MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent is a must.
3. Junior Technician (Group-II) (Post Code: 26120)
   • Total Vacancies: 11 (UR-4; OBC-2; SC-1; ST-2; EWS-2)
   • Branch: Mechanical; Metallurgical; Ceramic; Materials Science
   • Essential:
     • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent in Mechanical / Metallurgical / Ceramic / Materials Science with a minimum of 55% marks in the qualifying degree from a recognized University/Institute.
     • OR
     • Three years Diploma in Engineering or equivalent in Mechanical / Metallurgical / Ceramic / Materials Science (after 10+2) with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized University/Institute with one-year relevant experience.

5. Junior Technician (Group-IV) (Post Code: 26122)

   • Branch: Civil; Architecture, Planning & Design Mining
   • Essential:
     • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent in Civil / Mining or Bachelors in Architecture (B.Arch.) with a minimum of 55% marks in the qualifying degree from a recognized University/Institute.
     • OR
     • Three years Diploma in Engineering or equivalent in Civil / Mining (after 10+2) with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized University/Institute with one-year relevant experience.

6. Junior Technician (Group-V) (Post Code: 26123)
   • Total Vacancies: 04 (UR-2; OBC-1; ST-1)
   • Branch: Computer Science and Engineering; CCIS
   • Essential:
     • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent in Computer Science / Information Technology with a minimum of 55% marks in the qualifying degree from a recognized University/Institute.
     • OR
     • Three years Diploma in Engineering or equivalent in Computer Science / Information Technology (after 10+2) with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized University/Institute with one-year relevant experience.
     • Proficiency in the use of a variety of computer office applications like MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent is a must.
7. Junior Library Assistant (Post Code: 26124)
   • Total Vacancies: 02 (UR-1; OBC-1)
   • Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Library & Info. Science with 55% marks OR Diploma in Library & Info. Science with 55% marks with Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline OR Two years’ degree in M. Lib. & Info. Sc. (Integrated) with 55% marks.
   • Desirable: Hands-on experience of Computer Applications in a Library of repute.
8. Assistant Engineer (Post Code: 26125)
   • Total Vacancies: 02 (UR-1; OBC-1)
   • Essential: Bachelor’s Degree/ Diploma in Civil/Electrical Engineering with at least 05 years (for bachelor’s degree holders) or 08 years (for Diploma holders) of relevant post qualification experience at Level – 6* or above.
9. Junior Engineer (Post Code: 26126)
   • Total Vacancies: 03 (UR-2; EWS-1)
   • Essential:
     • B.E./B.Tech. with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade (on 10-point scale) from a recognized University/Institute in Civil with minimum 02 years post qualification experience in relevant field.
     • OR
     • Three-years Diploma in Engineering with 55% marks from Govt. recognized polytechnic in (Civil) with minimum 03 years post qualification experience in relevant field.
10. Junior Translation Officer (Post Code: 26127)
    • Total Vacancies: 01 (UR-1)
    • Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Hindi with relevant experience of three years’ translation work (English to Hindi and Hindi to English) of technical and non-technical content, after qualifying degree in Central Govt. / State Govt. / Central & State Autonomous Bodies / Public Sector Undertakings / Central & State Research Organizations.
    • Desirable:
      • (i) Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from English to Hindi and vice-versa.
      • (ii) Knowledge of operating Hindi application software packages on computer.
      • (iii) Experience in translation of technical & scientific documents.

Salary Details (वेतन विवरण)

The posts carry the Pay Levels as per 7th CPC listed below:

• Assistant Engineer: Pay Level 8
• Junior Superintendent, Junior Engineer, Junior Translation Officer: Pay Level 6
• Junior Technician (Group-I to V), Junior Library Assistant: Pay Level 3

In addition to the Matrix as per 7th CPC as mentioned, the posts carry the usual allowances at par with those admissible under IIT (BHU) rules in the corresponding Pay Matrix.

चयन प्रक्रिया (Selection Process)

• All the applications will be screened on the basis of data submitted by the applicant in the online application form.
• The candidate applying for the post should ensure that he/she fulfils the eligibility criteria for the post. His/ Her admission to any stage of the selection process will be purely provisional subject to confirmation that he/she satisfies the prescribed eligibility criteria.
• Mere eligibility will not entitle any candidate for being called for interview / appear in the selection process. More stringent criteria over and above the advertised criteria may be applied for short-listing the candidates at any stage of the selection process. Applicants having higher qualification and merit may be given preference.
• The Institute reserves the right to call only the requisite number of candidates for selection process after shortlisting with reference to the candidate’s qualification, suitability, experience, etc. The Institute also reserves the right to offer post on contract basis instead of regular post, depending upon the qualification, experience and/or performance in the selection process.
• The schedule of Screening Test/Written Test/Presentation/Group Discussion/Personal Interview etc. will be e-mailed in due course to the shortlisted candidates in their registered e-mail. No separate letter (Hard copy) will be sent for this purpose.
• The list (indicating only the application numbers and reasons for not shortlisting) of Shortlisted and Non-Shortlisted applicants will be displayed on Institute Website viz. https://iitbhu.ac.in/recruitment_nf after the shortlisting of the applicant’s process is completed. • Applicants possessing requisite qualification and experience are required to apply online on or before 24.09.2026.

  • For Group ‘B’ posts:
    • Other than SC/ST/Person with Disabilities (Divyangjan) candidates /all-Female candidates: Rs. 500/-

  • The application fee is to be paid through the payment gateway in online application through Internet Banking / Debit Card/Credit Card / UPI.

• Hard Copy Submission:
  • After successful online submission of application, the printout of the submitted application form, along with all relevant supporting documents, must also be sent in a sealed envelope by Speed Post to The Registrar, IIT (BHU), Varanasi 221005.
  • The sealed envelope shall be superscribed with application form number, advertisement number, and the name and code of the post for which the application is being submitted.
  • Printout of final Online submitted application along with photocopies (duly self-attested) of supporting documents which you have mentioned in your online application and the Certification by the Employer/ Cadre Controlling Authority as per Annexure-A, shall be forwarded through Proper Channel within seven (7) days after the last date of submission of Application Form.
