GRS Vacancy at Jajpur: Official notification has been released on 09/05/2025 for the engagement of Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in different Gram Panchayats of Jajpur District on a contractual basis.

MGNREGS Section Zilla Parishad Jajpur invites application from eligible candidates for filling up the 138 no. of Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) posts on contractual basis. The interested candidates are suggested to go through the following vacancies details before applying the positions.

Educational Qualification
i) The candidate must have computer proficiency and a minimum of a 10+2 pass or its equivalent, as announced periodically by CHSE Odisha.
ii) The candidate must be fluent in Odia and possess the following: a. passed the Middle School exam with Odia as a language; b. passed the Matriculation or equivalent exam with Odia as the medium of examination in non-language subjects; c. passed the Class VII or higher final exam with Odia as a language subject; or d. passed an Odia test in the Middle English School Standard administered by the School and Mass Education Department.
(iii) Computer Proficiency: Candidates that can use the Odia language on a computer and have ‘O’ level computer proficiency are eligible to apply for the GRS position.
A foundation level course is the “O” level offered by the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), formerly DOEACC. Candidates who possess advanced computer skills, such as BCA, PGDCA, MCA, B.Tech (IT/Computer Science), or B.E (IT/Computer Science), are also eligible to apply. The O level course at the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) and the OS-CIT course at Odisha Knowledge Corporation Limited (OKCL) both certify basic computer proficiency because they cover foundation-level knowledge in computer application, according to the Electronics & Information Technology Department’s notification no. 435 dated 08.02.2021.

Higher-level courses like DCA, BCA, PGDCA, MCA, and others usually focus on topics like database management systems, operating systems, software engineering, computer architecture, web technology, multimedia, and languages like C++ and Java. These courses are appropriate for jobs as database administrators, programmers, systems analysts, and more.

Computer proficiency is merely qualifying in nature and will not be taken into consideration when determining the order of merit. All of these courses must be certified by Central Universities, State Universities, Deemed Universities, or State Private Universities whose list appears in the Universities Grants Commission portal (www.ugc.ac.in), the All India Council for Technical Education (www.aicte-india.org), or SCTEVTGG (sctevtodisha.nic.in).
Age Limit
In order to be considered for the position, a candidate must be at least eighteen(18) years old and no older than forty(40) on January 5, 2025, the day of the month when the application process begins. The only admissible dates of birth are those listed on the HSC certificate from the Odisha Board of Secondary Education or on an equivalent credential from any other recognized Board, Council, or Indian university.
Relaxation of the upper age limit: Candidates who fall under the SC, ST, SEBC, or women categories are eligible for a five-year relaxation of the upper age restriction. For people with disabilities (PWD), the upper age limit can also be lowered by ten years.
Remuneration
The newly hired GRS will receive a consolidated monthly salary of Rs. 7,000, which may be adjusted periodically. After more than a year and less than six years of successful employment, they will receive 8500/-per month, and after more than six years, they will receive 8880/-per month.
Nature of appointment
For the purpose of carrying out work under MGNREGS and in conjunction with the Scheme, the positions are strictly contractual. According to the appointing authority’s order, the chosen individuals may be assigned to any Gram Panchayat in this District. The GRSS’s terms of service must adhere to the regulations that are periodically established to that effect.

Selection process:

The only criteria used for selection will be the grades earned in the 10+2 or its equivalent test. It is not permitted to include marks that were secured in the fourth optional. The candidate who is older according to their date of birth on their HSC Certificate (within the allowed age range) shall be ranked higher than the younger candidate if two or more candidates receive the same scores without taking the fourth optional in their +2 or comparable test. Additionally, the candidate who has already passed the HSC test will be given preference in the selection list if two or more candidates are the same age.

How to apply:

To apply for the position of Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) of Jajpur District, interested candidates must fill out the prescribed application form attached bellow and send it to the CDO-cum-EO, ZP, Jajpur via Registered and Speed Post by 09/06/2025. The application must be sealed and include the necessary documents that have been self-attested.

Terms and conditions:

  1. Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) positions under MGNREGS are contractual, with an initial one-year engagement that may be extended based on favorable performance and a recommendation by the relevant BDO. Zilla Parishad, the Collector-cum-DPC, and others may extend the GRS’s contract for an additional year.
  2. Zilla Parishad (ZP) retains the discretion to reject or approve any or all applications without providing a justification.
  3. In the event of a postal delay or application loss during transit, the authority will not bear responsibility.
  4. Applications that are submitted in any other format or through any other method will not be considered.
  5. The Collector-CEO, Zilla Parishad, will issue an engagement order (Co-terminus and Contractual with the Scheme) and sign a non-judicial stamp paper agreement with the GRS.
  6. The contract will be terminated immediately and appropriate legal action will be taken against the individual in question if any fraudulent testimonials are later discovered or if they have been the subject of criminal prosecution.
  7. GRS will be established as a “District Cadre” position.
  8. All terms and conditions are subject to change based on recommendations periodically provided by the government.
