Qualification
1. A master’s degree in journalism, mass communication, computer science, computer applications, management, business administration, corporate communication, public relations, digital media, or communication technology from an Indian university with at least 55% of the possible points (or an equivalent grade on a point scale, depending on the grading system used) in a relevant, related, or related subject, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
2. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET :

As long as the following requirements are met, Ph.D. candidates who registered for the program before July 11, 2009, will be subject to the rules of the then-current Ordinances, Bye-laws, and Regulations of the institution awarding the degree. They will also be exempt from the NET/SLET/SET requirements for hiring assistant professors or positions equivalent to them in universities, colleges, or institutions.

a. Candidate’s Ph.D. degree was awarded in a conventional manner;
b. At least two external examiners reviewed the candidate’s Ph.D. thesis;
c. An open Ph.D. viva voce was held;
d. The candidate published two research papers from their Ph.D. work, at least one of which was published in a referred journal;
e. The candidate presented at least two papers based on their Ph.D. work at conferences or seminars sponsored by the UGC, ICSSR, CSIR, or any comparable organization.
OR
The Ph.D. degree was earned from a foreign university or institution that, at any given time, was ranked in the top 500 of the World University Ranking by any of the following: i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS); ii) the Times Higher Education (THE); or iii) Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
Experience
In the relevant field, such as media business and related subjects, strategic communication and related subjects, print/broadcast, advertising, corporate communication, public relations, brand management, artificial intelligence in communication, digital public relations, campaign analytics, media technologies, digital media, new media, convergence journalism, or social media, candidates should have at least three years of teaching or industry experience. understanding of graphic and web design.
practical knowledge of media software, including Photoshop, In Design, Adobe Creative Suite, and After Effects Premiere Pro.
Tenure of appointment
Initially for a duration of one year, which includes two semesters. However, the candidate’s performance must be adequate for retention beyond the first academic semester.
Age Limit
55 years or less from the application’s final date of receipt is preferred.
Remuneration
The candidate will be paid consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs. 57,700/-.

Terms & Conditions:

  1. Employment will be entirely contract-based and temporary for the first year (two semesters), with the possibility of extension for a maximum of two years after the first joining, contingent on student feedback and performance evaluation by IIMC authorities.
  2. Services may be terminated at any time without providing a reason by either party providing one month’s notice or by the IIMC paying one month’s compensation in lieu of notice.
  3. Only the notice term that the Institute specifies will apply in the event of indiscipline.
  4. No claim to regularization is granted by this agreement.
  5. Biometric attendance is required.

Important Instructions:

  1. A candidate may explicitly indicate on the required application form that they would like to apply for more than one position (for example, Assistant Professor for PG Diploma in English and PG Diploma in Hindi).
  2. By 5:00 p.m. on June 4, 2025, at the latest, the completed application should be sent to the Deputy Registrar, IIMC, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, JNU New Campus, New Delhi – 110067, together with a demand draft of Rs 500.00 made payable to the “Registrar, Indian Institute of Mass Communication” in New Delhi.
  3. Applications that are sent with incomplete information or without the required fees may be denied. Under no circumstances will fees that have already been paid be reimbursed.
