Note on Vacancies:

  1. The number of training slots shown in this notification is provisional and liable to increase or decrease depending upon the actual needs of the Administration at the time of finalization of selection.
  2. There will be a horizontal reservation to the extent of 4% for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and 3% for Ex-Servicemen. These quota slots are included within the overall notified slots and are not to be treated as additional.

Eligibility Criteria (ଯୋଗ୍ୟତା ମାପଦଣ୍ଡ)

1. Age Criteria (as on 15/09/2026 – Closing Date)

  • General: Age of Applicants should be 15 to 24 years as on the closing date specified in this notification (Closing date 15.09.2026).
  • SC/ST Candidates: Upper age limit relaxed by 5 years.
  • OBC Candidates: Upper age limit relaxed by 3 years.
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwBD): Upper age limit relaxed by 10 years.
  • Ex-Servicemen: 10 (Ten) additional years for Ex-Servicemen (Ex SM) to the extent of service rendered in Defense Forces plus 03 (Three) years provided they have put in a minimum of 6 months service at a stretch. 2. Educational Qualification

Applicants must have already passed the prescribed educational qualification as on the date of issue of this notification, i.e. 21/08/2026, as detailed below:

Important Qualification Notes:

  1. Applicants whose SSC or ITI results are awaited as on the date of this notification are not eligible to apply.
  2. Applicants who have failed in ITI should not apply. If any such applicant is inadvertently engaged, the apprenticeship will be terminated immediately without any further notice.
  3. Engineering graduates and diploma holders are not eligible to apply under this notification, as they fall under a separate apprenticeship scheme.
  4. For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology), the candidate must be 12th pass (under 10+2 system) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with minimum of 50% marks in both 10th & 12th. Copies of mark sheet & pass certificates of Class 10 and Class 12 (with Physics, Chemistry & Biology) must be uploaded.
  5. For Secretarial Assistant and Stenographer, the candidate must have obtained National Trade Certificate (NTC) approved by NCVT/SCVT.
  6. For Computer Operator & Programming Assistant, the candidate must have Broad base basic training in Information Technology Sector under centre of excellence scheme in repair and maintenance of hardware of computer and peripherals, or Broad base basic training in Information Technology Sector under centre of excellence scheme in repair and maintenance of hardware of computer networking. The candidate must have obtained National Trade Certificate (NTC) approved by NCVT/SCVT.

Salary Details (ଦରମାବିବରଣୀ)

  • Training Period: Selected applicants shall undergo apprenticeship training as per extant rules.
  • Stipend: Selected candidates engaged as apprentices will be paid a stipend at the prescribed rate during the training period, as per the extant rules and directives issued by the Railway Board from time to time.
  • Level-1 Preference: In the case of direct recruitment from the open market to Level-1 posts (Pay Scale: ₹18,000 – ₹56,900), candidates who have completed apprenticeship training (CCAA) in Railway establishments and hold a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) will be given preference for up to 20% of the vacancies, subject to fulfilment of the eligibility criteria prescribed by RRB/RRC.

ଚୟନପ୍ରକ୍ରିୟା (Selection Process)

  1. Merit-Based Selection: The selection of eligible applicants for training under the Apprentices Act, 1961 will be based on a merit list. The merit list for each unit will be prepared solely on the basis of the percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation, subject to a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. The final panel will be drawn based on the Matriculation marks of the eligible applicants.
  2. Calculation of Marks: For the purpose of calculating the percentage of Matriculation marks, the marks obtained in all subjects will be reckoned, and not the marks of any single subject or group of subjects. The calculation must not be based on the ‘best of five’ approach but must include all subjects (optional, additional, and alternate). Applicants with a CGPA must convert it to actual marks and enter the equivalent percentage in the online application.
  3. Tie-Breaking Rule: In the event of two or more applicants securing the same marks, preference will be given to the older candidate. If the dates of birth are also identical, the candidate who passed the Matriculation examination earlier will be given priority.
  4. No Written Test or Viva: Selection is strictly merit-based. There will be no written test or viva.
  5. Document Verification (DV): Candidates will be shortlisted strictly on the basis of academic merit and the order of preference of Unit-Department-Trade. DV will take place at the Headquarters of East Coast Railway, Railway Recruitment Cell, Bhubaneswar.

  1. Online Only: Applications must be submitted online only through the official RRC/BBS website: www.rrcbbs.org.in.
  2. Registration & Login: Candidates must first register and then log in accordingly. A candidate is allowed to submit only one application for a specific trade; submission of more than one application shall summarily disqualify the candidate.
  3. Registration Number: During submission, a Registration Number will be issued to each applicant and must be preserved and quoted at all further stages.

  6. Community/Caste Certificate: Caste Certificate for SC/ST (Annexure ‘B’) and OBC (Annexure ‘C’) candidates in Central Government format. OBC candidates must also submit a Non-Creamy Layer Self-Declaration (Annexure ‘D’).
  7. EWS Certificate: Income and Asset Certificate for EWS candidates (Annexure ‘E’).
  8. Disability Certificate: For PwBD candidates (Annexure ‘G’ / Annexure ‘H’).
  9. Discharge/Serving Certificate: For Ex-Servicemen / Armed Forces Personnel quota.
  10. Fee Exemption Certificate: Wherever applicable.

Note: Originals of all documents along with the Medical Fitness Certificate (Annexure ‘F’) must be produced during Document Verification.

ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦେଶାବଳୀ (Important Instructions)

  1. Aadhaar Card Requirement: Applicants must be in possession of an Aadhaar Card and must enter their 12-digit Aadhaar number (or 28-digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID) at the time of registration. The original card must be produced during Document Verification.
  2. Single Application: Submission of multiple applications for the same trade will lead to summary rejection.
  3. No Hard Copies: Applicants are not required to send any hard copies of applications or certificates to RRC/BBS by post.
  4. Medical Fitness Certificate: Shortlisted candidates must present a Medical Fitness Certificate in Annexure ‘F’ format signed by a Government-authorized (Gazetted) doctor not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon.
  5. No Hostel Facility & No Guarantee of Job: No hostel accommodation will be provided during training. Completion of apprenticeship training confers no right or claim for employment in the Railways.
  6. Agreement of Training: Selected candidates must execute a Contract of Apprenticeship. If prematurely terminated by the apprentice, the apprentice/surety is liable to refund training costs equivalent to 3 months’ stipend.
  7. Rejection Grounds: Applications without scanned photo/signature, incomplete applications, over/under-aged candidates, or non-payment of prescribed fees will be rejected.
  8. Legal Jurisdiction: Exclusive jurisdiction lies with the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Cuttack.
