Essential Qualification and Experience- Boudh Forest Division Recruitment 2025

Essential QualificationB.E/ B.Tech in Computer Science/ IT or B.E/ B.Tech/Bachelor’s degree in Science/ Social Science/ Statistics/ Economics with MCA.
Essential Experience3 years of work experience, with at least 2 years as a technical expert in GIS/RS in respect of Monitoring & Evaluation in a Relevant Sector.
Demonstrable expertise in at least 2 of the following domains: GIS, Remote sensing, MIS, Monitoring, Evaluation, Forestry.
Desirable ExperienceExperience of working in a donor-funded Govt. Project of a similar nature.
PreferableExperience of working in Government/Government undertaking & in an External Aided Project. Understanding of M&E, GIS, RS concepts in relation to forest management activities.

Job Description- Boudh Forest Division Recruitment 2025

The Subject Matter Specialist will:

  • Assist the ADMU/DMU Chief in monitoring the annual plan.
  • Handle MIS/GIS data compilation.
  • Perform progress monitoring based on MIS and GIS.
  • Conduct survey and demarcation of assigned and treatment areas.
  • Assist in biomass assessment surveys.
  • Provide updates on MRV protocols.
  • Conduct reporting and capacity building.
  • Coordinate with other SMSs, FMUs, and stakeholders.

Odisha Forestry Sector Development Project (OFSDP), Phase-II

Project Overview

  • Project Name: Odisha Forestry Sector Development Project (OFSDP) Phase-II.
  • Funding: Implemented with loan assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
  • Duration: 10 years, from 2017-18 to 2026-27.
  • Coverage: Implemented in 10 districts of Odisha.
  • Objective: To enhance the forest ecosystem along with sustainable livelihoods of local people by improving sustainable forest management, biodiversity conservation, and community development. This aims to contribute to the harmonization between environmental conservation and socio-economic development.
  • Implementation Mode: Joint Forest Management (JFM) mode, involving 1200 Vana Surakshya Samiti (VSS).
  • Community Engagement: The project will engage 3600 Women SHGs in enhancing their income through different Income Generating Activities (IGA).
  • Implementation Divisions: The project is implemented in 14 Forest/Wildlife divisions. 50 Forest Ranges (referred to as Field Management Units, FMU) have been selected in 12 Forest Divisions for JFM components. Biodiversity components will be implemented in 2 Wildlife Divisions.
  • Priority Areas:
    • Restoration of degraded forest and augment forest resources.
    • Secure sustainable forest management by improving forest administration, community organizations, and capacity development.
    • Conservation and Ecosystem based management of the biodiversity.
    • Improve income of forest-dependent families through livelihood improvement/IGA activities.
    • Promotion of inter-sectoral convergence for holistic development.
    • Technology based monitoring of the project interventions.
  • Institutional Structure:
    • State Level: Project Management Unit (PMU) in the Odisha Forestry Sector Development Society (OFSDS), headed by the Project Director.
    • Division Level: Divisional Management Unit (DMU), headed by the DFO-cum-DMU Chief.
    • Range Level: Field Management Unit (FMU) at the Forest range level (50 nos.), headed by the Range Officer-cum-FMU Chief.
