Eligibility Criteria- WBCSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026

For applicants to be considered for the position of Assistant Professor, they must meet the following requirements:

• Academic Record: To qualify, candidates must have maintained a high grade point average with at least 55% (or equivalent) of their master’s degree in a related subject.
• Test Scores: All applicants must have passed the National Eligibility Test (NET) or an equivalent state-level examination.
• Language Proficiency: All candidates should possess both written and spoken proficiency in the language (or languages) of the medium of instruction.
• Special Considerations: Candidates who are SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) or differently abled may receive 5% (from 55% to 50% at both bachelor’s and master’s) of relaxations at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, respectively.

The age limit will be determined as of January 1st 2016.

• Maximum age limit of forty (40) years.
• Relaxation of age: Scheduled cast (SC) are allowed (5) additional years Scheduled tribe (ST) are allowed (5) additional years Other backward classes (non-creamy layer, OBC) are allowed (3) additional years Disabled persons will be allowed (10) additional years
• Teachers at state-aided colleges will have an upper age limit of forty-seven (47) years.

Selection Process for WBCSC Assistant Professor Recruitment

The selection is a multi-stage process designed to be transparent and objective.
