POWERGRID, one of the world’s largest power transmission utilities and a Government of India Maharatna Enterprise, is looking for experienced professionals to join its team on a fixed-term contract basis. The company is seeking Field Engineers and Field Supervisors for its projects across various regions in India.
The engagement is for an initial period of 24 months or until the project’s completion, whichever is earlier. The contract may be extended for up to a total of five years based on project requirements.

Vacancies and Eligibility
A total of 1543 vacancies are available across various regions for the following posts:
- Field Engineer (Electrical): 532 vacancies
- Field Engineer (Civil): 198 vacancies
- Field Supervisor (Electrical): 535 vacancies
- Field Supervisor (Civil): 193 vacancies
- Field Supervisor (Electronics & Communication): 85 vacancies
The vacancies are specific to each region, including Northern Region, Southern Region, Western Region, North-Eastern Region, and the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS Project).
Educational Qualifications and Experience
- Field Engineer (Electrical & Civil): A full-time B.E., B.Tech., or B.Sc. (Engg.) in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% marks and one year of post-qualification experience in areas such as rural electrification, transmission lines, or substations. The upper age limit is 29 years as of September 17, 2025.
- Field Supervisor (Electrical, Civil, & Electronics & Communication): A full-time Diploma in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% marks and one year of post-qualification experience in related fields. The upper age limit is 29 years as of September 17, 2025. Higher technical qualifications like a B.Tech. or B.E. are not permitted for these posts.
Compensation and Benefits
- Field Engineer: Monthly remuneration in the pay band of ₹ 30,000-3%-1,20,000, with an annual CTC of approximately ₹ 8.9 Lakhs.
- Field Supervisor: Monthly remuneration in the pay band of ₹ 23,000-3%-1,05,000, with an annual CTC of approximately ₹ 6.8 Lakhs.
Other benefits include HRA, mobile allowances, EPF, Gratuity, medical benefits for self and family, and leave entitlements (Casual, Sick, and Earned Leave).
Selection Process for Field Engineer/Supervisor Recruitment at POWERGRID
The selection process for all posts will be based on the POWERGRID Common FTE Written Test-2025. The test will be one hour long, consisting of 75 objective questions.
- Technical Knowledge Test: 50 questions based on the relevant discipline.
- Aptitude Test: 25 questions covering General English, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness.
The written test score will be valid for one year. Candidates for the Field Engineer post will be shortlisted for an interview based on their written test performance. For Field Supervisor posts, a merit list will be prepared based solely on the written test marks.

- Application Fee: ₹400 for Field Engineer posts and ₹300 for Field Supervisor posts. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwBD/ExSM categories are exempted from the fee.
