Call for applications/nominations for appointment of Director
The CENTRE FOR NANO AND SOFT MATTER SCIENCES (CeNS), Bengaluru, has been established by the Government of India as a specialized centre of excellence to promote the growth of research in nano and soft matter sciences. CeNS invites applications/nominations from Indian nationals for the post of Director. The candidate should be a dynamic leader with substantial experience and achievements in nano and soft matter sciences and with a clear vision for the institution dedicated to these areas of research.

Eligibility and Qualifications
The candidate should be an eminent scientist/technologist in nano and soft matter sciences with a Ph.D. in Science or equivalent degree and at least 20 years of R&D experience (excluding the period spent in obtaining Ph.D. degree) with an established record of high-quality R&D output in the relevant areas.
The candidate should have:
- Demonstrated evidence of leadership qualities.
- Administrative experience in a relevant field.
- Good national and international linkages in the relevant area.
Age: The applicant should preferably be below 58 years of age on the last date of receipt of applications.
Pay and Tenure
The post of Director carries the pay of Level 16 (₹2,25,000/- fixed) in the Pay Matrix, as per 7th CPC (earlier Pay Band ₹80,000/- (fixed) plus allowances), plus other allowances as admissible to Central Government employees of similar status and other allowances sanctioned in CeNS, Bengaluru.
The appointment will be for a period of five years, or till the incumbent attains the age of 60 years, whichever is earlier, with a provision for extension up to the age of 65 years, based on review of performance.

The Director will be appointed after obtaining the approval of the Competent Authority based on the recommendations made by a high-level Search-cum-Selection Committee. The committee will consider both applications received in response to this advertisement and nominations.

- Persons employed in Government Departments, Autonomous Organizations and Public Sector Undertakings, should arrange to send their applications through proper channel. They may, however, send an advance copy so as to meet the time deadline mentioned above.
